It was necessary

From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

REFLECTION

Sometimes it is hard to understand and admit that Jesus Christ had to go through the cross to save us. He always announced beforehand to His disciples what would happen, they did not understand right away what he meant, but they remembered it in front of the empty tomb, three days after the death of Jesus, at the moment of resurrection. With this condition God offers a full and perfect pardon to all who repent. He no longer remembers our sins, therefore he considers us perfectly just and worthy to be happy in His company for ever, it is a daily topic of gratitude and awe.
